SYNOPSIS
It's only been a few weeks since Maude Sinks and her best friend, Adair Tiptoe, have returned home from their
first year at Abracadabra Academy, a school of magic. Already there are evil powers lurking around their neighborhood. The
two friends are on edge the whole summer, after coming face-to-face with past enemies.
When their second year of school begins, Maude and Adair have challenges ahead. There is a new Black Magic
class, Wizard Wallop is becoming an official Abracadabra game, and they are struggling to gain their Flying Certificates.
Balancing studying and fighting evil isn't easy, and after discovering that the wicked Wonky Wizard Society is planning to
capture someone, the two second-years are plunged into a battle filled with a nasty potion, messages in the sky, a cat that
isn't quite what he seems, and an old and dangerous wand.
Will Maude and Adair figure out who the society plans to kidnap before it's too late? Or will the Wonky Wizard
Society pull-off their latest scheme to gain more power?
About the Author
Becky Titelman has been writing her whole life, and in 2005, her first novel, The Wonky Witch, was published.
It has become very popular and is selling well online and in some bookstores. Becky has spent the last year promoting

Maude let the days fly by, amusing herself with her new
school books, trying on her green robes and her new hat, and helping Mickey with his potions. The two siblings didn’t
venture outside very much, because both of them were scared. And so, they wrapped themselves up in chores around the house,
games, reading, and helping their mom with the meals. Their father was constantly going to the office to meet with high officials
from the Wizard Government, and their mother stayed home with them. The doors were kept locked tight with spells that their
mom cast on them.
Maude was very excited when she woke up one morning and
realized that Adair was returning that day. She couldn’t believe the time had gone so fast. During his vacation, she
had sent him a letter in response to his, telling him to come over the minute he got back. Maude let him know there was much
for her to tell him and informed Adair that her family was safe and sound.
After breakfast, Maude sat in her room reading her Potions
book, when Adair burst in on her. She jumped and her book flew across the room. “Oh, Adair! You scared the life out
of me!” Maude took in a few deep breaths.
“Sorry about that.” He smiled, picking up the
Potions book and handing it over to her.
“How was Caspian?” Maude patted the bed for
him to sit down.
“It was amazing! I got at least a month’s worth of Orange Reptile Juice.”
“Wow. Really?”
“Yeah, I’m going to bring it to school with
me. Plaka and Zoey better stay away from it,” he said, implying that Maude had better not let her roommates steal any
of his precious juice.
“I’m glad you’re back.” Maude grinned.
“But sit down. I have to tell you something important.”
“What is it?” he asked, wriggling onto her
high bed.
“I found out some interesting information while you
were gone.”
“Like what?” Adair’s eyes became wide.
“I found out more about that stream.”
“What stream?”
“The stream behind your house.”
“The cursed one?” He looked at her with raised
eyebrows.
“Yeah. There’s a wizard’s soul living
in it with all the powers he stole. His name was Mal Evolence. He was punished by the Government, and the Head Wizard locked
his spirit up there.”
“What’d he do?”
“He started the Wonky Society after he was released
from prison years ago. Only, it wasn’t called that. It was the Caspian Clan, then.”
“Wow,” Adair breathed.
“So, he was arrested, but he escaped,” she
whispered. “And my dad told me a secret.”
“What?”
“He was the one who found Mal and got him banished
to the stream forever.”
“Really? How?” asked Adair.
“He heard them by the stream, shouting and chanting,
and he saw Mal with the group. My dad told the Wizard Government about it, and the Head Wizard went with his officials and
punished Mal by putting his soul into the water forever.”
“Your dad did that?” Adair said, wide-eyed.
“Yep,” Maude said proudly. “He told me
that the Ster family doesn’t know it was him. Nobody does. His identity was kept hidden. They know someone gave their
leader away, but they don’t know who. He’s afraid if they find out it was him, they’ll come after all four
of us at our house,” she explained.
“It seems like your family was destined to fight
evil,” said Adair, sitting back with a small smile. “Now it all makes sense. No wonder my hand made the stream
react like that.”
